Cisco: Cisco Unveils Mobility Quotient Research on Business Mobility

Cisco® today announced the results of a new global research study, the Cisco Mobility Quotient, conducted to provide a baseline measurement of business readiness to support today's mobile workforce ability to perform their job, no matter where they are - within the office, at home or on the go.

With 48 percent of respondents outside the U.S., this global survey yielded findings corresponding to three major areas of mobility readiness: 1) ability to deliver insight through remote application and data center access, 2) collaboration and enabling of effective communication, and 3) awareness as to the location and status of key business assets, resources and people.

Symantec: Symantec Advances Data Center Automation Strategy with Veritas Server Foundation

New Server Foundation release to add advanced workflow automation and configuration drift management capabilities. The latest release of Server Foundation will address today’s data center challenges and builds further on Symantec’s vision for comprehensive Data Center Automation. New features include workflow automation and configuration control capabilities to help minimize downtime, automate and standardize execution of critical server management processes, and provide increased visibility across the data center.

Microsoft: Microsoft Aims to Provide Customers with Choice for Document File Formats

Since the launch of the 2007 Microsoft Office system this year, a thriving community has emerged around the Ecma Open XML file formats (also known in standards circles as ECMA-376) because of the formats’ many capabilities, including backwards compatibility with billions of existing documents and support for user-defined schema. But despite the rising popularity of this new international standard, Microsoft also realized that some customers may want to work with other formats, including the OpenDocument Format (ODF) 1.0, and committed itself to providing customers with choice, and to addressing the need for document interoperability.

HP: HP Advance Enables High-performance Computing Clusters to Visually Render Complex Data

HP today announced a development that allows high-performance computing customers to interactively render and visualize the huge data sets created by complex simulations and models.

By adding the HP Parallel Compositing Library to its Scalable Visualization Array offering, the company has tapped the inherent performance scalability of clusters for network-based pixel compositing.
