How PC Professional Secured an Oakland Trucking Company’s IT—and Cut Their Overhead in Half

From one IT Guy, No Backup Plan, and a Security Posture That Needed Work to a Long-Term Partnership

This one goes back a while.

When this Oakland trucking company first came to us (over a decade ago), their IT situation was held together by a single, unresponsive person. There was no proactive monitoring, no real planning, and software patches weren’t happening consistently—which, if you know anything about cybersecurity, means you’re leaving the door open.

Our client was also operating in a higher-risk area, which means strong security isn’t optional, it’s essential. And at the time, their systems, including cameras and file storage, weren’t where they needed to be.

We had to prioritize.

What We Did

We didn’t try to fix everything at once. We went after the highest-risk stuff first.

That meant replacing the outdated file servers, upgrading their phone and camera systems, and putting off-site backups in place so that if something went wrong—from ransomware to a general hardware failure—they wouldn’t lose valuable data.

Once the immediate gaps were closed, we built out a comprehensive security plan covering both the digital and physical environment. Not just a checklist, a real plan with layered protections and clear protocols.

From there, we transitioned them to Microsoft-based solutions, including cloud email, which simplified their infrastructure and made everything easier to manage going forward.

The net result? Their IT overhead dropped by half. More protection. Less cost. Simpler operation.

What Changed

Their environment is more reliable and more secure than it’s ever been. Critical vulnerabilities are addressed. Systems are modernized. And they’ve got a team that monitors things proactively instead of waiting for the call that something broke.

Here’s the part we’re most proud of, though: this client has been with us for over ten years.

That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when you do the job right, show up consistently, and treat the client like a partner—not a ticket number. That’s always been the way we operate, and this is what it looks like in practice.
